Sea reaches 24°C in August; the four small islands can be swum to from the main beach in shoulder season. August is genuinely crowded — book mid-May to mid-June or September. The road from Saranda is 25 min by minibus or taxi (€10). Butrint UNESCO ruins are 15 min the other way.
